Johny The Girl
Johny Walsh is a SAG-AFTRA actress, writer, singer, and improviser from the greater Philadelphia area. Ever the determined free spirit, she chose to attend high school at The Hill School, a boarding school in Pottstown, PA, which eventually led to studying Communication, Sociology, and Russian Area Studies at Villanova University. Never one to turn down a new, exciting opportunity, she packed her bags and moved to the West Coast to pursue a career in the film and television industry after a brief stint in Branding, Advertising, and Marketing, having worked for CBS Radio, the Philadelphia Flyers, and Red Tettemer, O'Connell, + Partners. Upon landing in Los Angeles, she began her training in Meisner-based acting classes, as well as Advanced Screenwriting at the University of Southern California. About a year after landing in LA, Improv 101 opened up at UCB Theater LA, and Johny was hooked. Having completed the core program, she was immediately accepted into the Advanced Study program, as well as honored with a nomination for the Thomas Angel Foundation Scholarship. Continuing her improv studies also led to studying sketch comedy, as well as venturing deeper into comedy by studying the different perspectives and approaches offered at The Groundlings Theater, The Pack Theater, iO West, and iO Chicago. Johny found a real passion for performance, which led to working background on film and TV sets all around LA, booking lead roles in a few short films, as well as a feature film lead role, performing with her musical improv troupes 'Garage Band,' 'The B-Side,' and her two-person musical improv team 'Carl,' as well as her improvised One-Act play team "The Camp Hickory Players." Johny has performed on countless stages in Los Angeles, at the Del Close Marathon in New York City, and at iO in Chicago. Most recently, Johny completed and received her Masters Degree from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland where she studied Philosophy, Theatre, and Performance and spent a year traveling and performing - both in and out of the classroom. Her time in Europe brought many changes and exciting opportunities, including performances in Improv Fest Ireland, as well as a chance to perform as part of the International Ensemble Team at the Edinburgh Improv Festival in Scotland. Most recently, having just returned from living in Europe, she has been working on HBO's Mare of Easttown, filming in Philadelphia, as well as a few episodes on the current AMC show Dispatches from Elsewhere.
