Your Weekend Binge Watch: Landman
Available to watch on Paramount+; 1 Season of 10 episodes, Drama, Season 2 premieres this Sunday November 16th!
Watch Landman for a dramatic look at life in the Texas oil industry. With a great cast led by Billy Bob Thornton and featuring Jon Hamm, Demi Moore, and Ali Larter, Landman paints the oil industry as kind of sexy, a bit alluring, and definitely dangerous.
Synopsis
Deep in the heart of West Texas, roughnecks and wildcat billionaires try to get rich quick in the oil business as oil rigs begin to dominate the state. Crisis executive Tommy Norris tries to bring his company to the top during a fueling boom.

Thoughts
There’s no denying that Taylor Sheridan has figured out the formula for rural dramas. Although I am not as well-versed in Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe, there are fewer movies I’ve thought about more since I’ve watched them than Sicario (for which he wrote the screenplay).
Landman is fun and dangerous and continuously raising the stakes – right up until the final episode of season 1, which sets up a whole lot of drama for season 2 (and I am SO excited for it to premiere on Sunday night).
Billy Bob Thornton is perfectly cast as Tommy Norris, a salt-of-the-earth everyman who works for Jon Hamm’s character and happens to be the linchpin that keeps Hamm’s oil business going. In addition to his oil business duties, Tommy’s also juggling a family of his own with his just-wants-to-be-loved teenage daughter, his landman-ish-in-training son, and his will-they-or-won’t-they-again ex-wife.
Throw in some storylines involving possible drug trafficking, a forbidden romance, the power of teenage love, and the what-feels-like-life-and-death stakes of Texas football, and you’ve got Landman.
It’s fun, it’s dramatic, and it’s got laugh-out-loud moments. Landman is Totally Bingeready.
